A quick update...
22 April my neighbour Andrew and I attended the QUEANBEYAN City Council’s monthly meeting.
Andrew being the good BLOKE that he is, prepared and presented a submission to Council outlining concerns of residents living on these streets.
During the presentation Andrew cited Government guidelines with regard to street design and traffic densities (AMCORD Design Element Recommendations).
Andrew quickly established that CJD and MORELLA both meet the AMCORD definition of a 50KMH street and that these roads are not designed to tolerate the near double recommended traffic volume or speeds (some approx 100KMH: REF QCC) that we currently experience.
ANDY thanks again!
I can’t upload WORD documents to this site, however if you wish to telephone me I will gladly email or fax a copy to you.
Andrew and I were subsequently interviewed by a QUEANBEYAN AGE reporter, she was present at the 22 April meeting and contacted Andy for comment.... see press clipping...
Cheers

Brief email to Cr Tim OVERALL, answered.
see below...
Dear Sir,
RE: Carolyn JACKSON Drive and MORELLA AVE JERRABOMBERRA
Could you please visit the following web site, read opinions and facts from residents of these streets and feel free to leave a comment yourself... I am fed up with the council ignoring this issue...so much so I am considering running for office myself, using safe streets as a platform. I would be interested in your feedback RE the site and what immediate action you propose.

"YET ANOTHER STACK ON THE CJD CHICANE"
Ben, whom I assume to be a CJD resident (hey Ben) reported that on Monday morning about 0500, a vehicle collided with the CJD “chicane”, Ben reported that excessive speed may have been involved due to substantial damage sustained to one of the front wheels. Ben If you read this could you please let me know if QUEANBEYAN Police attended, If not was the vehicle towed? etc.
Thanks Again Ben

Council correspondence...
Would anyone have ANY correspondence from the council (old or otherwise
) that they can provide me? I would like to include a record of inaction in my submission with regard to promises made for CJD and MORELLA over the years, anything would be good.

IMPORTANT, PLEASE LEAVE A COMMENT
For this project to be successful it is important that you voice your opinion on what you have experienced living on these streets, Hoon activity, abuse or excessive speed. please use the POLL as well but I need your opinions for this to be of any benefit...I also need something indicative of where you live, ( even if it's just initials and MORRELLA or CJD resident, EXAMPLE- MD CJD resident) if you wish to put your name and Mobile # to a post that's great, I will also understand if you wish to remain anonymous.
This is a good opportunity to have a voice with regard to protecting our families and neighbours It would be a shame to waste it... If any one has any concerns posting... please call me.
Please check back from time to time or leave posts as events happen

What you can do in the interim
- Observe the 50 KM speed limit
- Drive to conditions ( less than 50 KMH, rain, pedestrian congestion and cyclists... construction activities)
- Report motorists who are clearly speeding or being reckless in the control of their vehicles
- Report HOON activity to QUEANBEYAN POLICE
- Observe 40 KM restrictions when our CHILDREN are alighting at Bus stops
Stop the speedway
Dear residents of Carolyn Jackson Drive and Morella Avenue.
The increased volume of traffic using Carolyn Jackson Drive and Morella Avenue is of concern, but of greater concern is the significant speed travelled by some users of these roads.
Although the speed limit is 50 km, it appears many motorists disregard this limit.
If something isn’t done regarding this problem soon there is significant risk that property will be damaged, wildlife and pets will be killed and worse , your family and friends could be seriously injured or KILLED. Just walking along the footpath is of concern with the speed some people travel. There was recently an incident on Halloran Drive where a speeding drunk driver jumped the curb and crashed into the front garden of a home. If it wasn’t for the garden retaining wall, who knows what the outcome would have been for those residents.
Safety and security concerns aside, this type of activity significantly LOWERS THE VALUE OF YOUR PROPERTY
It’s time for the residents of these Jerrabomberra streets to take action.
If you are interested in trying to resolve these concerns please register your details on this blog and I will prepare a submission for our Government representative and Queanbeyan Council to address.
Any suggestions you may have on how the Council/Government should resolve this problem would also be welcome.
